Gardening indoors for the winter
Today we ’re in Brewster , New York , visiting Dede Lifgren ’s beautiful sunroom . We ’ve inspect Dede ’s outdoor garden before ( An Artist ’s Garden ) , but here is what is happening inside .
Several year ago we insert part of our porch to make a sunroom . Weoverwinterour favoritetropicaland tender perennials there and now get to revel them all wintertime long !
Even the goldfish derive inside to keep warm for the winter . The large aquarium help to impart moisture to the way .
Bothsucculents(Euphorbia trigona , Zones 10–12 ) and fern(Nephrolepisexaltata , Zones 10–12 ) share sunroom distance side by side .
Lots of green and sun are particularly welcome after a few month of wintertime !
Warm sunshine is streaming in from the cold outdoors .
This is our giant , HEAVY jade plant(Crassula ovata , Zones 10–12 ) . It ’s a favorite because of its sizing — though sometimes we wish well it did n’t grow quite so well !
Asparagus fern(Asparagussetaceus , Zones 9–12 )
A giant leopard plant(Farfugiumjaponicum , Zones 7–10 ) , a tree philodendron(Philodendron bipinnatifidum , Zones 10–12 ) , and some graphics divvy up a corner .
I trap thisbegoniaup on a moss stake to save space . Even though temperatures are kept nerveless in the sun parlour , it seems mental object .
Our andiron enjoy the sunroom ’s cheery locating and the water that ’s always useable in the marine museum ! The Carassius auratus do n’t seem to mind .
