Scenes from a California garden
Today ’s pic fall from Carrie Sass .
I love lilliputian vignettes throughout the yard , particularly when I can use upcycled materials such as slate , grape stakes , and brick . Living in Stockton , California ( NorCal ) , we have the best conditions for long blossom season . This year the impatiens started fading in early December !
Recycled brick makes a nappy edging for this long border , master by shades of blue and purpleness . The large , half - barrelplantersset in the bed are a great way to snarf up low - grow plant life where they can be appreciated up nigh , and add together dimension and height to the aim .

Brilliant pinkish and red petunias admixture with yellow dulcet potato vines ( Ipomoeabatatas , Zones 9–11 or as annuals ) to make a brilliant window boxful . The simple green - and - white vividness schema in the bottom below allow the colorful window corner to take center stage . I like that thiswindow boxis set grim enough that the plants do n’t obturate the windowpane itself .
A rustic fence made from beautiful sure-enough grape vine stake brings a patina of age to the garden and are of course very appropriate for a garden in Northern California .
Freely mixing annuals , shrubs , and planter makes for a plenteous , complexgarden design . The conventional brick edging keeps it all looking well plan and contained .
