Looking back at spring

admirer of the GPOD Cherry Ong is taking us along for another visit to theHorticulture Centre of the Pacific ( HCP)in Victoria , British Columbia . This time we ’re taking a face at the gardens around the HCP Library . Cherry visited in the spring , as the gardens were just waking up and add up into increment .

This usual form ofAkebia quinata‘Cream Form ’ ( zone 4–8 )   has blue chocolately purple flowers , but the cream class is a beautiful variation on that theme . In summer , the flower are follow by large , unusual - looking lavender fruit that split open to discover the comestible flesh around the source .

Thisspring gardenis just get along to lifetime . The shrubs in the foreground look like yellow - twigdogwood(Cornussericea , Zones 2–8 ) , and the lustrous gold stems look fantastic against the saturnine wood turnout on the building behind them .

A flagstonepathleads through the garden . The curve of the path behind the fence draw you onward to explore what lies beyond , and it is well-defined that beautiful gardens wait you as you do .

The nonmigratory garden cat enjoys the quick spring sun and hopes for some deary from garden visitors .

Wood microchip give a softer , more cozy feel to the path in a shaded part of the garden .

These perverted rebar sculptures give fantastic bodily structure to the garden even before most of the plant are in full growth . The scant color of the plantings behind them ensure that they resist out beautifully .

It ’s wonderful to look back at the refreshful , spring ontogeny this meter of year !
