A public garden in North Carolina

Today we ’re on the route with Teresa Watkins , visiting a beautiful public garden in North Carolina .

A quick two - daytime trip to North Carolina provided the opportunity to entrance the looker and magnificence of autumn at theSarah P. Duke Gardensin Durham . Located on 55 acres with five geographical mile of walker paths , I stroll through lush , rude , and formal garden each with its own theme and design . I found an Asian arboretum with Nipponese accouterment , bridges , streams , pond , and waterfalls , plan by the historical landscape painting designer Ellen Biddle Shipman . In every direction , you could see the burgundy , orange , scarlet , and yellow people of color associated with fall . Some tree-living view almost look like there were level of fire behind the trees .

Another section showcased seasonal vegetable gardens , complete with chickens , wildflowers , a compost pile , and signage to teach the value of sustainability . Pots of 3 - foot - grandiloquent , cantaloupe - size chrysanthemum were spread out through the Pine Clouds Mountain Stream ( Sho Un Kei ) . Some chrysanthemum were elegantly coifed , with petals layered perfectly ; others brandish their tousled mopheads in the breeze . I was compelled to take 100 of photo memory . It was a tremendous three - hour circuit . After the last 18 month of stress - fill closing off , I was thrilled that the Sarah P. Duke Gardens was full of human and wildlife visitors . squirrel were scuttle along all the paths , and cardinals , robins , and Wren were feasting on lustrous berries and wassail from the Asian shishi - odoshi . I contact mass power - walking on their suspension , school day groups visiting , college students reading , friends strolling and chatting , and a wedding company with guests . Yet there was plenty of space to be alone and line up peace . I ca n’t wait to return ; I have another three mi to explore .
