Delicious abundance from a city garden
Today we ’re confabulate with Kea . She ’s a photographer by professing and grows a plenty of beautiful , delicious food ( among other thing ) in her garden in Washington , D.C. ( If you need to see more , check outher Instagram . )
It all starts withseeds . Kea order , “ I may or may not have a trouble with my seed compulsion , ” but we all know you ca n’t possibly have too many seeds .
From seeds toseedlings . nerveless - season crop like the kail on the right go out into the garden earlier than the warm - season crop like the peppers on the left .

A beautiful harvest of bok choy . Most smorgasbord have green leaves , but this one with dark purple - red leafage is especially striking .
Rainbow Swiss chard is as beautiful as it is yummy , and it is loose to develop as well .

Squash bugeggs ! In summer , squash hemipteran lay their egg on the underside ( commonly ) of squash racquets leaves . Cutting off the leafage with eggs , or slosh the nut , is a chemical - free room to control these destructive dirt ball .
Ground cherries ( aka cape gooseberries ) are sweet Charles Edward Berry . They ’re related to tomatillos but are sweet-smelling and fruity instead of tart and savory . Kea pronounce that her girl love these so much that she has to hide them for get enough to use them to ready with .
It is n’t all veggie . A fewHydrangeamacrophylla‘Endless Summer ( zona 6–9 ) were snipped from the garden to enjoy in a vase .

Kea has a lot of “ helpers ” in the garden , including this niggling punishing actor , JoJo .
