Things Needed

Craftsman 675 Series Lawn Mowers have Briggs and Stratton 190 - cubic centimeter displacement vertical pecker engines rated at 6.75 animal foot - lbs . of torque at 3,100 revolutions per minute . The 675 Series mowers are most often push - type walk - behind orbitual mowers with 21 - inch or 22 - inch press cutting decks . The manufacturer of these locomotive engine recommends the initial locomotive crude oil change after five hour of use , and after 25 hours of function thereafter . Changing this oil is a straightforward process .

Step 1

Pull the sparkplug wire off the sparkplug and stay it on the stub at the top of the piston chamber head . force the mower to a clean , level surface . A service department is great because farting will not deflect the oil stream . Put down a plastic tabloid or pocketbook if you are concerned about drips on the driveway or pavement .

Step 2

Loosen the oil dipstick grade chapiter at the top of the engine , and remove the dipstick and capital assembly all . Get your catch container quick . It should be able-bodied to defy at least 1 qt . of liquid , with 2 qts . being better . The top should be at least 6 inches in diameter to preclude drip mould .

Step 3

Tip the lawn mower carefully and slowly on its side while adjudge the container decent under the oil dipstick tube . The carburetor should be on top of the locomotive , and the oil dipstick / drain tube should be at the lowest point on the engine . Do not touch the vegetable oil , as it may still be hot from running the engine .

Step 4

Rock the lawn mower a bit while still draining to get the oil that may be trammel in recess in the engine .

Step 5

Right the lawn mower again when the oil drip becomes irregular . Clean any run - down or drips on the lawn mower or ground . Be careful not to allow any shit near the fill tube entry .

Step 6

Fill the engine with the 20 oz . of new rock oil . expend a small funnel shape to help channelise it all into the dipstick underground . Wait a few minutes and check the fossil oil grade with the dipstick .

Step 7

Reconnect the sparkplug conducting wire and depart the engine to check for correct operation . There should not be any strike or tapping sound . If it makes a strange noise , stop the engine like a shot and ensure the crude oil spirit level again . Fill as necessary . Running an engine without fossil oil will result in its seizing , which will ruin the railway locomotive .

Tip

Dispose of used fossil oil at a recycling compendium center .

Warning

Always disconnect the sparkplug wire when working on a lawn lawn mower to prevent inadvertent starts and serious injury .
