The garden human race is like that pop music culture phenomenon , “ Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon . ” You know the one , where you could link any actor to Kevin Bacon in six steps or less . Take any two gardeners worldwide and you could believably find some way to link them . This scenario plays out for me all the time . My horticulture neighbor is active in her local extension office , where a soil scientist from a local university is a adviser , and that prof gave a webinar on sustainable horticulture , where an internationally cognize native works plant scientist was also a panellist . That was only four degree from that famous plant scientist back to me . I bring this up because “ Six Degrees of horticulture ” is how I add up to be co - hosting an incredible garden spell in England this approaching May .
It all started when a formerFine Gardeningeditor drop a line a feature clause on a Midwestern garden design by Adam Woodruff in 2015 . The beauty of that garden stick with me for several year , and in 2020 I reached out to Adam and asked if he had any recent projects he desire to deal withFG . flex out he did . In fact , he had move to the East Coast ( just a unforesightful thrust fromFine Gardeningheadquarters ) , where he had install a lovely seaside ground substance garden that was finally mature enough for me to visit . The covering tale on that gorgeous space remains one of my favorites from the past 18 years . While I was visiting , Adam suggest I get in touch with well - fuck UK garden room decorator and supporter , Annie Guilfoyle — insisting that there was some sort of collaboration to be had . finally , Annie and I got on the telephone and chew the fat about all things gardening and the idea of team up up for in - person and on-line effect . We forged a partnership with Garden Masterclass ( run by Annie and Noel Kingsbury ) and create an on-line garden - design course together . That led to a unrecorded event this preceding summer , host by Chanticleer andFG , where Annie was a keynote speaker . And it was at dinner party that night that we formulated a back - of - the - napkin theme for a special gardening tour in May of 2025 .
In the months that have followed , Annie has put an incredible amount of time and effort into curating the most unique and fulfilling garden tour you may opine . It has been well-nigh four years since that first conversation about a spell , and I ’m very activated to apportion the experience with you , our loyalFGreaders . I also feel so lucky that “ Six Degrees of Gardening ” exists — a cock-a-hoop thank - you is owed to Adam Woodruff for the founding to Annie Guilfoyle .

I hope to see you in England in a few month , where you will undoubtedly make your own Kevin Bacon connections to garden enthusiasts from an array of localisation and setting . Although , I don’tthinkthat the star ofFootloosehimself will be joining us .
