Do painted stepping stones last?
Before I painted and shared these painted paver tutorials I require to let them get a good dose of spicy summer sun followed by a cold rainy / white winter to see how they would hold up over a period of time without having to cart them inside or move them at all . I was more than pleased with how the paint pavers have held up . A complete supplying lean is available at the end of this post .
Base Coat concrete paver
As with myFlower Stepping Stone , I started with Zinser Bullseye sealant key . The cementum paver is very pitted and the paint just slide down in . The supererogatory preparation is worth it . protrude a Clarence Day ahead , position out several pavers and just coat them with the clean paint . A roller is easier than a brush but you could employ a brushing .
Update : I have found that doing one thin coat works better . The boneheaded coating I put on the Swallowtail butterfly stone unclothe whereas the Monarch has lasted very well even out in the conditions . Also I now use Plaid Folk Art Multi Surface in stead of Zinser .
Let your white base coat teetotal thoroughly .

Sketch in stepping stone design
Draw on your butterfly . I just destitute pass this one , and though I can now see what require changing this is not bad for my first go .
Outline with your black rouge using the chisel border of your brush and paint in the eubstance . allow it dry . As you’re able to see I fail to allow it dry and I drag black into my orange tree when I taste to fill in the wing . hold open yourself some difficulty and permit the blackamoor dry . To speed up the drying time practice a blow drier on it on gamy heat .
Basecoat paver painted design
Paint in a coat of orange , permit dry . tot a 2d coating of orange to keep a thick vividness .
While the second coating of Orange River is still soused mix a bit of yellow into the orange to lighten it up and let it pass off into it as you come near the wing edge , you require it to gradually blend in . The first yellow I used was too laid-back so I grabbed a smart one and liked the effect much better .
Tidy up outlines
Go over the fateful stemma again with the chisel edge of your brush , neatening up where you may have get orange onto the black . Keep adding your contingent lines .
Paint stepping stone details
sum some livid dots with a pencil tip or a lining skirmish douse in blanched paint . Make them arbitrarily chance and not lined up . Add some to the body as well .
Seal your painted paver
Once this is all dry then you may coat it with the Spar Urethane using a large brush . Give it at least 3 coat , letting it dry out between coat . Let it bring around for a few week before expose it to wet weather condition .
Update : Plaid FolkArt multi - surface or outdoor paints are self waterproofing .
There you have your beautiful Monarch Butterfly stepping stone . Do n’t attempt to go for idol , the fun and uniqueness of each one is what give for our own trend .

Flora the Flamingo gives her smile of blessing .
