This is one of my favorite time of twelvemonth … The season that straddle spring and summertime , when the day are recollective and warm and my lemon Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree is bursting with bright yellow ornamentation . These sunshiny days simply beg for the clink of ice cube in a A. E. W. Mason shock and the stale sip of a fresh homemade lemonade . Preferably outdoors . Preferably with condensation all over your board , and you do n’t even care because you ’re in a carefree summer lovin’ state of thinker .
I favor Eureka lemon tree over Meyer lemon yellow since I like a more acid lemonade — tart and tart , just like the ones I used to drink growing up . ( Conveniently , I happened to move into a house with a Eureka Citrus limon tree diagram in the backyard . )
When I want something a footling different , I ’ll sub some sweet basil in place of the Rosmarinus officinalis . And when I want to make a spritzer , I ’ll make this deliciouslemon - St. Basil the Great syrupto keep in the electric refrigerator for those carbonated cravings ( as you might have infer , you may turn that into a lemon - rosemary sirup too ) .

Let ’s all raise a mason jounce ( or a tall glass , as long as it ’s frigid ) and count down to the dog days of summer !

The inwardness of any good homemade lemonade is the unproblematic sirup . To make one , bring the body of water , bread , and rosemary to a slow boiling point for several minutes in a diminished saucepan . Stir until the sugar is dissolve , then grow off the heat , cover with a lid , and allow the rosemary steep .
Squeeze the juice out of 5 or 6 ( more or less ) lemons so you have about 1 cup of brisk juice . Eurekas will give your lemonade that traditional discernment of sour lemon . Meyers will make it sweeter , so bet on your penchant , you may desire to add less sirup to the final intermixture .
When your syrup has impregnate for at least half an hour , hit the rosemary sprigs , then stir the syrup and maize succus together in a pitcherful . Add pee and mix well . savor the lemonade and adjust as needed … more sirup for a sugared tang , or more water for a subtle tartness .

To serve , tote up ice , drop in a few slices of lemon and a few branchlet of rosemary , and bask on a sunny daytime while sitting in your garden !
Tangy sweet-scented bracing goodness !
