When we move to our home in 2016 , this area along the fencing had been used as a race racecourse of sort . The filth was packed solid . At some compass point , after complete my other makeovers , I begin using the lasagna method , which is layering cardboard and grass and leaf clippings , to kill off the grass and locoweed . Because the land was so packed , I adjudicate to rototill the area . I added a few plants and shrubs in the fall of 2017 , but leave the major planting and overhaul until the summer of 2018 .

In this exposure there are Annabelle Hydrangeas , Astilbe , Corydalis , Coral Bells , variegated Jacob ’s Ladder , Lenten Rose , Hosta and impatiens for some fun pops of color .

I ’ve used this old vintage garden cart in my gardens as a planter for several old age . Old wheelbarrows make awing , singular planters .
This is the first time I ’ve include Sweet Potato Vine in my wheelbarrow planter . I love how it cascade down over the side , but I do n’t eff how the hemipteran just eat it up . Next year I ’ll go back to Creeping Jenny because nobody like to eat her .

And , another year of the garden cart . It ’s beat sort of rickety , so it stays put class round . The squirrel care to dig in it , so I sprinkle cinnamon over the top of the filth mightily after I embed it and that hold them forth . There are Impatiens ( that are taking their gratifying sentence blooming ) along with lobelia in a wickerwork handbasket I picked up at a thrift store . Again to total height to this organization , I used a clay kitty wrench upside down . The cute birdhouse is a new addition this twelvemonth .

This ‘ Welcome to the Garden ’ sketch is a more late addition to this shade delimitation . If you front closely , you may see that the death chair is elevated by abide it on pots turned upsidedown .
It ’s fun to change thing up every year and create different little grouping of detritus . In the word picture below , I used the same birdhouse that ’s pictured above in a different place in the shade edge garden . I added an old coal bucketful planter ( with caladium , impatiens and motley ivy ) to the group .
You will notice that I usesolar lightsin most of my garden vignettes . I think they add lots of character , even during the day . And , yes most of them get just enough Lord’s Day that they do light up at night at least for a few hours .

I ’ve wanted an old bike to add to my gardens for years and eventually I found this one a few long time ago . I think it ’s lovely ! The basket is filled with trailing torenia ( wishing bone flower ) and impatiens .
Another year the hoop is full of trailing torenia and impatiens . The first planting of lobelia was eaten by squirrels . Who would have thought !
The honest-to-goodness chair is back . Every year it gets a bit more rickety . The plantation owner is filled with caladium , impatiens and vinca vine . I think there ’s a fern hiding in there too .

Across the curtilage in front of my garden shed , is what I call my rubble garden . It ’s a fun place to display a bunch of my piffling garden tchotchkes ( marked chachkies ) .
Here ’s my rickety run . I always think this matter will muff over and all my junk will go flying , but it has survived many wind storms .
I used creep William Le Baron Jenny , ivy and polka dot flora in the various little containers . Some plants do n’t do very well in small containers , but these are working dandy and drying out a few times has n’t killed them . succulent also do well in little containers .

Do you note the wanderer web ? I think it fits right in with my junk theme , so I let it stay .
Oldgalvanized watering cansmake the precious planters or even empty they total short ton of type to a garden . If you use a lachrymation can for a planter , be sure they leak or punch holes in the bottom for drain .
I used a triad of logs for this picayune sketch . The coleus is so beautiful ! The little watering can was easy to play off to the coral colored heyday with a can of atomiser pigment . Again I used logs here to add version in height .

Another twelvemonth in the shed garden . Is n’t the new shed sign passing cute .
The old ladder get a blusher job . Spray rouge is a rubble nurseryman ’s best friend . bunch of common ivy , impatiens and polka dot plant . Are you starting to discover some great tad plants for container .
We picked this rusty , petty wagon up at a flea mart . This is one of my favorite novel addition . Instead of planting right in the wagon , I just used pots and arranged them in the wagon .
