Gardening off the beaten track
Mark Mitckes is a collector who likes rare plant life and gardens in Zone 7a on a James Jerome Hill overlooking a lake in Oak Ridge , Tennessee . Arisaemacandissmum(pink sea dog - in - the - pulpit , Zones 5–8 ) is an Asian congener of our native jack - in - the - pulpit ( ArisaematriphyllumZones 4–9 ) . It has elegant flowers paint with stripes of white and pink .

ThoughScadoxius puniceus(blood lily , Zones 9–11 ) ca n’t survive inhuman winter , its bulbs can be dig and wintered indoors , or grown in container and lend inside for the winter . The advantage is these striking and unusual blossom .
The aboriginal oakleaf hydrangea(Hydrangeaquercifolia , Zones 5–9 ) is already a wonderful plant , but this cultivar , called‘Little Honey ’ , is perhaps even better , with its beautiful yellow foliage .

Stewartiamalocodendron(mountain camellia , Zones 5–9 ) is a congenator of the Asian camellia but is aboriginal to the forests of the southeasterly United States .
